Commissioners approve $300,000 opt out for Roads Only

By Taylor Risse At the July 3 regular meeting of the Bennett County Commissioners, the board unanimously voted to approve Resolution #5-2024 which passed an opt out in the amount of $300,000 for five years and to be used on roads only.All commissioners were present except Keeley Clausen.

Laverack angles 9th in All American Tourney

By Tim Huether Martin’s Terry Laverack had a great time on the pond at the All American Bass Fishing Tournament May 29-31, angling his way to an impressive ninth place finish with a total catch of seven fish, weighing 13 lbs., 8 oz. For his efforts, he took home a prize of $2,500.

O’Bryan earns Middle School Principal of the Year

By Jacob Waln Mikaela O’Bryan is the current middle school principal for Bennett County. Her academic teaching career started 22 years ago. For the first 13 years of her career she taught every age, ranging from elementary to high school.It was her grandpa Bob that inspired her to become a teacher.

County hires Lessert as hwy. superintendent

By Tim Huether Melissa Lessert was hired as the new Bennett County Highway Superintendent at the June 18, regular Bennett County Board of Commissioners meeting. Lessert was serving as the Hwy dept. secretary and will replace Colten Peterson who recently resigned that position.
