By Coach Brent Ireland It was another busy week for the wrestling team. On Tuesday we traveled to Hay Springs for duals with Hay Springs and Hemingford. Despite being a bit shorthanded, the boys team won both duals (47-18 vs Hemingford and 36-10 vs Hay Springs). It was an historic day for the girls as they participated in the first ever Bennett County Girls wrestling dual, coming away with a 24-9 win over Hay Springs!
On Saturday the boys traveled to Wagner for another tough east river tournament with 16 teams in all competing. The boys ended up 9th as a team. Place winners were Gavin Risse (2nd), Ruger Smokov and Talon Krolikowski (3rd), Maddux Risse (4th), Ethan Harris (5th), Neil Hicks (6th), Lyle Noel and Tel Gropper (7th).
Also on Saturday the girls traveled to Red Cloud. This was a smaller tournament and for the first time all year we actually had as many participants as any other school. Overall the girls wrestled as well as they have all year leading to a first ever girls team title! Place winners were Kendyll Risse and Moreas May (1st), Sadie Schomp, Paesyn Wilson and Harmony Siers (2nd).
