By Tim Huether Cross state foes Cody-Kilgore and Bennett County squared off in Cody in girls high school basketball last week with the traveling Lady Warriors picking up a big 6124 victory.
The Freshmen duo of Jadyn Standing Soldier and Madi Waln lead the offense with 15 and 12 points respectively.
Taytlin Dillon and Dixie Heathershaw played well off the bench with 8 points each.

In the third quarter, Madi Waln scored seven points for the Lady Warriors as they would take full control heading to the fourth quarter with a 51-19 lead.
Kaylee Byrne’s four points in the final quarter led Bennett County as they ran away with the 61-24 win.
“We came out firing on all cylinders,” remarked head coach Duke Waln. “We didn’t give them a chance to gain any confidence, we played good man defense and worked the ball on offense. Our on-ball defense has improved vastly in the past 3 to 4 games. When we have good ball pressure, we can start to play passing lanes and get their offense out of system. Cody-Kilgore never got in the flow offensively, which ignited our transition and half-court sets”.
Player of the game was Jadyn Standing Soldier.
Bennett County scoring: Jadyn Standing Soldier 15, Madi Waln 12, Dixie Heathershaw 8, Taytlin Dillon 8, Hadley Schomp 6, Sophia May 6, Amia Cottier 6.
