Boys basketball team falls to SFIS 82-50

By Tim Huether The Warriors from St. Francis used a solid defensive effort and a fast paced offense to run away with an 82-50 win in St. Francis last Friday night in high school boys basketball play.

Bennett County stayed right with the host Warriors in the first quarter with good energy and good overall play, trailing 24-18 after one quarter.

Bennett County took a 13-9 lead with some hot three point shooting as Devon Featherman made two and Blair Louden one from long distance early on.

After that, SFIS scored 11 straight to go up 20-13.

The second quarter was ugly for Bennett County as SFIS put up 29 points and led 53-34 at the half.

Bennett County was playing shorthanded with starting forward Caysen Soderlin out with an ankle injury.

St. Francis would roll on in the second half, claiming the 82-50 win. Cante Kills In Water was hot from long distance making six three point baskets on his way to a game high 22 points.

Christin Poor Bear and Shooter Frederick led the Warriors with 14 points each. Devon Featherman added 8, Rush O’Neill 7, Blair Louden 5 and Wyatt Huber 2.

In the JV game, SFIS came away with a close 53-48 win. Hayden Risse warmed up in the second half, putting up 10 second half points on his way to a team high 15 points. Wyatt Huber had a good game with 9 points and Blair Louden and Malcolm Herman added 8 points each. Billy Waln scored 4, Jonathan Tallman 2, Camden O’Bryan 1 and Ben Theurer 1.
