Cold weather kept Jessie Ring, Reno and Riley in Kadoka for the weekend of the 13th. Risa turned 14 on the 13th but they didn’t celebrate until they were all together the following weekend. The kids have been having LOTS of basketball games and tournaments. Tis the season.

Students completed AIMSweb mid-year testing last week at Norris Elementary School. The teachers and Louann Krogman conducted the assessment. The Black Pipe Singershavebeenperforming the Lakota National Anthem for the girls’ and boys’ High School basketball games. Parent-Teacher Conferences are next week on Thursday, February 8th from 4 to 8 pm. Mr. Brown invites all of the parents, guardians, and community members to attend and support your child’s/relative’s progress.

Morgan and Susan Taft spent Wednesday evening in Mitchell. They went on to Sioux Falls on Thursday where Susan had surgery on her ankle. Speedy recovery, Susan. Dan Taft helped Evan and Dorothy Bligh get cattle loaded out on Thursday. Brian Mitchell and Morgan Taft went to Rapid City on Sunday.

Kay, Grace and Graden Japp came from Blair, Nebraska and Glen and Tammy Krogman from Fargo, North Dakota to the Sonny Krogman home last weekend. On Saturday they had a birthday party for their mom, Noreen Krogman, at the Roundup in White River. Each family started to their respective homes on Sunday morning in treacherous weather. All made it home safely.

Noreen and Sonny have been taking in many high school basketball games this season, They went in person to watch the White River girls play Bennett County on Tuesday. The rest of the games they have watched on Youtube.

Brandi Bettelyoun hosted a birthday party for her Grandma Darlene Allard on Saturday January 27, 2024 at the White River court house. It’s so nice to get family together to celebrate her. Happy Birthday, Darlene!

Noreen Krogman drove to Martin on Sunday to visit Laurene Emery at the hospital. Laurene is recovering from surgery and doing well.

I kept an appointment in Winner on Tuesday. Sunny morning when I left home but I drove into fog and mist as I went east. Thankfully, most folks were driving sensibly.

Ty, Val, Tim and Tammy Merchen met Kevin and Taylor Coy in Rapid on Saturday. They spent time with them and then spent the afternoon with Tim’s parents Harry and Jeanne Merchen. Harry and Jeanne are slowly settling in to their new home at Edgewood Estates.

We have water again! None last Sunday afternoon. On Monday Jes made a quick trip to White River and got what he needed for a temporary fix. For several days we could get water by turning the pump on and off for short periods of time. West River Excavation came out on Friday morning and in an hour and half had everything working. These conveniences we take for granted.
