“So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here !” Through Christ we are not reformed, rehabilitated, or reeducated, we are however re-created. The old life has left us, the old way of thinking and doing is gone. Under the authority of Jesus Christ, all things are under a new order. This should not only reflect on the way we think of ourselves, but also of others in the faith. It is so easy to look at the faults of others, but Paul is challenging us to see them through their “new” existence. We should pray for the ability to see others of the faith through the eyes of our redeemer. We are counted as redeemed in the eyes of the Lord, because of what Jesus did on the cross. While we should indeed hold each other accountable as members God’s family, we should do so in love and pray that we would be able to see our brothers and sisters as Jesus did and does.
