By Tim Huether The Kadoka Kougars boys basketball team jumped out early on Bennett County and never looked back as they doubled up the Warriors 6437 Jan. 30 in Kadoka.
Warrior senior Devon Featherman tried to keep them in it with five quick points to make it an 8-5 Kougar lead, but the host team used pressure defense to get several easy baskets and went on a 12-0 run and a 20-5 lead. They would lead 23-7 after one quarter.
After a Christin Poor Bear free throw for the Warriors, Kadoka used another spurt of 13 straight points to lead 36-8 and that would lead to a 48-18 halftime score.
Kadoka led 57-24 after three quarters and would finish off the game with a 6437 win.
Devon Featherman led the Warriors with 9 points, followed by Shooter Frederick with 8, Rush O’Neill 6, Hayden Risse 6 and Christin Poor Bear 4 and Caysen Soderlin 4.
The JV boys won 30-29 led by Wyatt Huber with 11 points.
Kadoka led 9-7 after one quarter but the Warrior JV boys held them scoreless in the second quarter while putting up 8 to lead 15-9 at the half.
The Kougars scored 18 in the third to just 6 for Bennett County to make it 27-21 in favor of Kadoka. Bennett County would score 9 in the fourth to 2 for Kadoka for the one point win.
