Unofficial Election Results
The much anticipated General Election of 2024 is somewhat in the books, with voting completed but not all counted statewide and nationwide as of Wednesday morning.
Voter turnout was large in this year’s General Election with a massive turnout by early voters. In Bennett County the voters upped their game from the primary turning an 18 percent turnout into 60.38. Across the state voter turnout was up compared to the 2024 primary but down drastically from the 2020 general, ringing in at 61.53 percent.
Former President Donald Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris 277 to 224 in the electoral college which put it 51 percent to 47.5. As of writing of this article, there were still four states that had not been called.
Seven ballot questions loomed over the heads of South Dakota voters; talk amongst voters left the taste that many were unsure of how to vote. Only one Amendment was Passed, Amendment F which would authorize the state to impose a work requirement on individuals eligible for expanded medicaid benefits. As of Wednesday morning, there were still 45 precincts in the state that were not fully reported. Local results have all precincts reported.
