“The Lord says: These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have had taught.” Isaiah 29:13. All of us are capable of hypocrisy. All of us can easily be so caught up in the routines and patterns of “Church” that we neglect to give God the love and praise that he rightly deserves. Do we want to be more than religious people just going through the motions? Are our words, and is our worship inconsistent with the true condition of our hearts? Jesus referenced the Prophets words in Matthew 15:8-9, as he teaches about inner purity. It is one thing to know about God, it is a completely different to actually knowing him. To Know Him is to love him, and to love Him is to love others. To know Him is to hunger and thirst for his truths to be manifested in our lives. To know Him is to be obedient, regardless of the opposition that we may face. “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirt and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24.
