Commissioners retract accepted county line road bid

Body

By Tim Huether The Bennett County Commissioners moved to retract the accepted bid for the county line road project that was approved at the Jan. 3, 2024, commission meeting at a special meeting held Jan. 31.

Shortly after starting the meeting, the board entered executive session and after a lengthy session, came out and took the action of retracting that bid and moved to advertise for bids for the county line road project once again.

In other business, the county was asked to give their support of a highway project east of Martin. The board moved to give their support of the projects scope.

The project will include grading and interim surfacing from east of the junction 18 and 73 to West of Antelope Road/242 Ave. in Bennett County. There are 11.276 miles on the project.

According to the project report, the purpose of the road project is to provide a safer, smoother and more durable driving surface. The need was determined due to the deterioration of the existing pavement, narrow ROW, shallow ditches which cause issues with drainage resulting in issues with snow storage.

The work may begin in 2025 with the final work is set to be finished in 2026.

The next regular commissioners meeting is Feb. 7, at 9:30 a.m.
