Allen Road construction costs at $100,000 over estimate

The Bennett County Commissioners voted unanimously to deny paying a bill for the Allen Road during their regular meeting January 18, as the costs are now more than $100,000 over the contracted amount.
“I think we should deny paying it until they can explain it,” said commissioner Newton Cummings. “Let’s ask them to come and meet with us and ask them why it wasn’t in the final contract.”
The commissioners discussed road conditions, with Jason Fanning telling County Supervisor Jerry Bennett the Cody road is the best it’s been in a long time.
Bennett said the shop building project has helped keep the building heated. They insulated the building, put in a new large door and put in new heaters with stimulus funds totalling $47,000. The propane heating bill in the past was running $1,500 per month.
