Gordon-Rushville rallies to best Warriors

In a game of offensive spurts, the Lady Mustangs from Gordon-Rushville spurted last, sending Bennett County home with a 63-55 loss.

The Lady Mustangs came out of the gate strong, racing to an 8-0 lead with Sara Marlatt leading the way with four points.
After a Warrior three pointer by Allie Morrissette, Marlatt answered back with another field goal.

The Lady Mustangs went cold from there, not scoring again in the quarter while Bennett County took a 12-10 lead at the buzzer with Morrissette  knocking down another three and Abbie Alexander a field goal.

The Warriors shot to a 17-10 lead, finishing off a 14-0 run as Morrissette hit another three and Rayel Livermont added a field goal.

Gordon-Rushville took their turn at a nice scoring run, completing a 10-0 spurt to surge back on top at 20-17 with 1:30 to play in the half.

Bennett County tied the game at 21, with Bobbi Standing Soldier and Taryn Lessert scoring, but Burleigh was fouled with two seconds in the half and converted both to send the Mustangs to the locker room with a two point edge.

Bennett County went ice cold in the third, scoring just two points on a Rayel Livermont putback off an offensive rebound, while Gordon dropped in 10 for a 33-23 score heading to the final quarter.

The visiting Warriors battled back, trailing by just three on a Brooke Bair three pointer with 1:12 to play, however, Bennett County was forced to foul sending Burleigh to the line, and she buried both shots. After a Warrior missed shot, Jaelyn Conroy was fouled and she made one of two for the final score of 39-33.

Bennett County was led on the offensive end by Allie Morrissette with 17 points. Rayel Livermont added 6, Brooke Bair 4, Bobbi Standing Soldier 2, Abbie Alexander 2 and Taryn Lessert 2.

In the girls JV game, Bennett County won 34-28.

Megan Slattery led the JV for Bennett County pouring in 16 points. Autumn Kamerzell had 8, Bobbi Standing Soldier 4, Taryn Lessert 2, Kalee Kratovil 2 and Haley Peil 2.
