Allie Morrissette scores early
Bennett County raced to an 18-4 lead after one quarter of play in girls basketball, but a fourth quarter collapse leaves them with a winless record at 0-4 after Lyman rallied for a 47-46 win in Martin Saturday night.
The Lady Warriors entered the fourth quarter leading 35-23, but Lyman got hot and the Bennett County missed about everything, including three layups, to allow Lyman back in the game.
Lyman used an 11-0 run down the home stretch to take a 42-36 lead, but Bennett County fought back with Rayel Livermont, Taylor Kratovil and Allie Morrissette all scoring two points to cut the lead to one at 43-42 with under a minute to play.
Lyman scored again but Brooke Bair grabbed an offensive rebound and put it up and in with 13 seconds to go in the game.
Lyman missed a pair of free throws and the Lady Warriors went to Taylor Kratovil on a move to the hoop, trying to draw a foul, but the shot was off, however, the Warriors tied the ball up and the possession went back to Bennett County. With 4.9 seconds left, coach Ken Soderlin set up a play for Kratovil again and her short range jumper was in and out, but she was fouled on the play, sending her to the free throw line for a pair of shots. She calmly sank both shots to put Bennett County up 46-45 with 2.8 seconds on the clock.
Lyman inbounded the ball and Megan Slattery fouled the Raiders Chesney Garnos with one second remaining, and she made them pay as she buried both shots, and the Lady Warriors in the process, and Lyman pulled out the one point win.
Bennett County led 26-15 at the half and 34-21 late in the third quarter. From that point, Lyman outscored the Lady Warriors 26-12.
