The Custer Wildcats powered past an under-manned Bennett County Warrior football team in round one of the South Dakota High School playoffs Oct. 25 in Custer, winning 44-8.

The Wildcats improved to 8-1 on the season and played St. Thomas More Monday evening in round two.
Bennett County lost several key players the past few weeks and their lack of depth and experience left them with a tough task facing a good Custer team.

Custer struck early on a 49 yard bomb into the corner from Chase Glazier to Chad Bryant. The kick after made it 7-0.
On Bennett County’s first possession, they put together a nice little drive moving down to the Wildcat 42 yardline before having to punt.

Joel Thomsen put Custer up by two scores on a 13 yard run with 3:15 to play in the first quarter. The kick made it 14-0.
After another Warrior punt, Custer looked to put more points on the board, but Jon McDonnell intercepted a Custer pass, setting the Warriors up at their own 38 yard line.

They again were forced to punt and Custer scored again, this time on a 33 yard field goal to make it 17-0 with 8:12 to play in the half.

Custer scored again later on a 56 yard scamper by Chad Bryant with 3:30 to play in the second quarter. The kick after made it 24-0 and that would be the score at the half.

Custer scored on an 11 yard pass from Glazier to Soren Wahlstrom. The kick after failed, making it a 30-0 score. A 40 yard touchdown pass from Glazier to Bryant made it 37-0 at the end of the third quarter.

Bennett County finally found the end zone with 11:52 to play in the game on a two yard run by Lukas Divan. Dalton McCollam ran it in for the two point conversion and a 37-8 game.

Custer scored the final points of the game with 8:56 to play on a 10 yard run by Joel Thomsen, making it 44-8.
Bennett County had one more nice drive, but could not punch it in after getting a first and goal, fumbling it away to the Wildcats.
