»Girls drop White River, edge by Jones County

Bennett County hosted White River in girls basketball January 25 and came away with a 47-32 win, led by Kaitlyn Rayhill and Tania Risse with ten points each.
White River put points on the board first to take a 3-0 lead, but the Lady Warriors scored nine straight points, four from Tania Risse, three from Abbie Alexander and two from Kaitlyn Rayhill, to go up 9-3.
A three by the Tiger’s Raven Whiting cut the deficit to three and the Warriors led 9-6 at the end of the first quarter.
White River scored the first six points of the second quarter and finished off a 9-0 run of their own to take a 12-9 lead in the second quarter.
Bennett County would not be outdone and scored the next 10 points to go on top 19-12.
After a Tiger free throw, Bennett County’s Kaitlyn Rayhill dropped in a three point shot at the buzzer to put the host Warriors up 22-13 at the half.
A two and three pointer by Ashlyn Plooster pulled White River to within six early in the third, but Bennett County used a 13-7 run to end the third up 37-25. Bennett County held off the Tigers in the fourth for the 47-32 win.
Bennett County scoring: Kaitlyn Rayhill 10, Tania Risse 10, Laura Hodson 5, Abbie Alexander 5, Harriet Standing Soldier 4, Brooke Bair 3.
Ashlyn Plooster led White River with 8 points.
In the JV game, Bennett County slipped by White River, 27-23. For Bennett County, Rebecca Vander May and Taryn Lessert scored 8 points each, Bobbi Standing Soldier 3, Rayel Livermont 3, Megan Winter 2, Lindsay Johnson 2 and Megan Slattery 1.
Bennett County toppled Jones County in Murdo Jan. 28, 42-40.
Harriett Standing Soldier scored 14 points and Abbie Alexander added eight for Bennett County.
Jones County led 31-28 after three quarters and missed a shot at the buzzer to tie the game.
