The Chadron Invitational Tournament was held this past Friday and Saturday. This was our toughest tournament yet with 26 schools competing from four different states. Many of the weight classes had more rated wrestlers from their respective states than there were places to hand out, in some cases there were multiple #1s included. From a spectators’ standpoint, it was an awesome experience seeing some really great wrestlers go at it for top honors. From a wrestlers’ standpoint it was a grueling grind as each match had to be hard fought to be in contention.

This was a tournament were there simply was no room for error and we didn’t quite measure up. That’s not to say the kids didn’t wrestle well, because they did. But we had some key mistakes that cost us some matches that were certainly winnable, but required our best to get the victory. Some of those losses set us up for a tough route back, including having to beat highly rated wrestlers just to be able to get into the placing rounds…the tournament was just that tough!
