»Volleyball team takes two in double header

The Bennett County Lady Warriors gave the home fans plenty to cheer about last week, taking down Valentine and Todd County in a volleyball double header.
In the opening match of the night against Valentine, Bennett County fell behind early, 11-18, before making a game of it late, falling 20-25.
In game two, Valentine jumped to an 11-6 before Bennett County caught fire, as the Warriors scored five straight points behind the serving of Noelle Risse to trail 11-10.
The Lady Warriors tied it at 16 and from there it was back and forth until Bennett County pulled away for a 25-23 win, tying the match at one game each.
In game three, it was Bennett County’s turn to go up early, posting an 8-3 lead. The Warriors were up 13-8 when Valentine put up a mini-run to make it 13-10, however, with Harriet Standing Soldier serving, the girls pounded out four straight points to take a commanding 17-10 lead and from there, they took the game three win, 25-18.
Valentine took back the momentum in game four with a convincing 25-13 win to tie the match back up. It was 4-4 early on when the Lady Badgers went on a 12-4 run to go up 16-8 and from there, it was all Valentine.
Bennett County took back the momentum of the game with a quick 6-0 lead in the final game as senior Kaitlyn Rayhill served it up.
Valentine made it 8-6, but big kills by Tania Risse and Noelle Risse and a block by Harriet Standing Soldier stopped the Lady Badger rally effort and Rayhill served up an ace serve for the game winning point at 15-9, giving the Lady Warriors the match win.
Against Todd County, Bennett County dominated with a three game win, 25-10, 25-13, 25-14.
In game one, the Lady Warriors put up eight straight points with Laura Hodson serving to jump out early, 12-2. From there, it was all Bennett County.
In game two, Bennett County led 8-5, then scored seven points on the serve of Freshman Tania Risse for a 15-5 lead. The Lady Warriors went on to win 25-13.
Game three was much of the same, this time Brooke Bair served up five straight points for a 9-2 Bennett County lead. From there Bennett County breezed to a 25-14 win.
Gordon/Rushville traveled to Martin for a high school volleyball match Oct. 7, and took home a three game win, 11-25, 17-25, 11-25
Bennett County stats: Harriet Standing Soldier was 9/9 serving, 16/18 hitting with 8 kills, 9 digs and one assisted block. Kaitlyn Rayhill was 52/53 setting with 14 kill assists, 6/6 serving and had 6 digs. Laura Hodson was 7/7 setting, 4/5 serving with one ace, 5/8 hitting with one kill and had two digs. Noelle Risse was 5/5 serving, 7/10 hitting with 3 kills and had one dig. Megan Winter was 1/1 serving and had one dig. Brooke Bair was 1/1 setting, 5/6 serving, 2/2 hitting with one kill and had 6 digs. Rebecca Vander May was 4/5 serving, 1/1 hitting and had 2 digs. Taylor Kratovil was 7/10 hitting with one kill, one dig and one assisted block. Tania Risse was 1/1 setting, 5/6 hitting with one ace and had one dig. Megan Slattery was 1/1 hitting and had 2 digs.
Stats against Cody/Kilgore: Harriet was 7/9 serving with one ace, 29/35 hitting with 14 kills, 4 digs, two assisted and two solo blocks. Kaitlyn was 78/78 setting with 24 kill assists, 21/21 serving with 4 aces, 4/4 hitting with 2 kills and had 11 digs. Laura was 13/14 setting, 12/12 serving with one ace, 10/10 hitting with 3 kills, 5 digs and one assisted block. Shayla Allen was 1/1 setting, 1/1 hitting and had one dig. Noelle was 12/14 serving with one ace, 6/11 hitting with two kills, 4 digs and two assisted blocks. Megan W was 1/1 setting, 1/1 hitting and had one dig. Brooke was 12/12 serving, 4/8 hitting with two kills and had 23 digs. Rebecca was 1/1 setting, 8/9 serving with one ace and had 4 digs. Taylor was 6/7 hitting with two kills, 3 digs and one assisted block. Tania was 1/1 setting with one kill assist, 13/15 hitting with three kills, two digs and two assisted blocks. Megan S had 4 digs. Bobbi Standing Soldier was 2/3 serving and had one dig.
