The Bennett County Lady Warriors will be heading into District play in the right direction...with a big win. On Monday evening in Martin, the Lady Warriors handled a good Wall team in three games, 25-19, 25-19, 25-17.
In game one, Wall went up 4-1 before the Warriors rallied to tie it at 4. After a 10-7 lead by Wall, Bennett County again rallied and posted a 15-13 lead to take command of the game and they never trailed after that, pulling away for the 25-19 win.
Wall again took a 4-1 lead in game two and they jumped to a 7-3 lead before the rotation had Brooke Bair serving. With Bair serving, Bennett County rolled off five straight points to take an 8-7 lead, a lead they would not give up as they went on to another 25-19 win.
In game three, the Lady Warriors scored first and never looked back with strong serving by Bair and Tania Risse. Senior Laura Hodson provided the game winning point with a kill to end the match with a 25-17 game three win.
All three seniors had solid games with Hodson, Harriet Standing Soldier and Kaitlyn Rayhill sparking the team with big kills and outstanding hustle play.
Bennett County will play Todd County next Tuesday in District play with a 4 p.m. MT start. Little Wound and St. Francis will meet in game two with the winners squaring off for the District title that evening.
Bennett County finished the season with a 14-15 record, but they won 11 of their final 15 games. Todd County has a 2-23 record while Little Wound is 9-13 and St. Francis is 6-16.
In the JV game, Bennett County started strong, winning 25-18, then lost an early lead in game two and fell 24-26 and also lost a close one in the final game, 13-15.
